Kids in the kitchen these school holidays + our Australia Day trading
The kitchen is a great place to keep the kids entertained and educated, as well as introducing healthy eating habits. Take advantage these school holidays and spend some time with your child enjoying the quality Summer local produce available right now. Fruits like mangoes, grapes, watermelon, berries, and cherries are currently in season and bursting with flavour.
Train up your little sous chef by creating some of our favourite Summer recipes!
1. Rainbow Fruit Kebabs
A simple yet colourful, vitamin-packed snack that lets fresh fruits really shine.
Roughly chop up a variety of your favourite Summer fruits. We suggest using an assortment of shapes, colours, and sizes.
Take wooden skewers and thread the fruit through. Follow the rainbow for a fabulous result!
2. Frozen Fruit Icy Pops
The perfect icy treat for a hot Summer’s day.
Slice up your summer favourites (we love mango, kiwi, banana and strawberries for a great flavour combo!).
Place chunks of fruit in a popsicle mould and fill the gaps with naturally sweetened iced tea.
Lastly, add popsicle sticks and freeze for 4 to 6 hours.
This is a great and healthy alternative to store bought ice blocks, and is perfect for a hot Summer day!
3. Fruity Yoghurt Pizzas
A naturally sweet, no bake dessert for both kids and adults.
Cut a watermelon into triangles to create a pizza shape.
Then top each triangle with a dollop of thick yoghurt. We love the Greek Yoghurt Company or Pure n Free Coconut Yoghurt for a dairy-free alternative.
Finally, top with sliced strawberries and ripe blueberries – delicious!
We know your child will love this healthy treat that looks like pizza but tastes like dessert.
