Festive Trading Day Flyer + Snacks for Santa – Get your kids in the kitchen these school holidays!
Gone are the days of the traditional milk and cookie for Santa, we can (of course) get around the carrot for the reindeer though.
That’s why we’ve put together healthy Christmas themed snacks, featuring in-season fruit!
Over these school holidays, get your kids into the kitchen and make fruit eating fun! These are the perfect festive additions to any holiday celebration, gathering, or playdate. The best part, these recipes leave out the sugar because we all know one too many candy canes are consumed during the month of December…
Watermelon Christmas Trees

A chance to let those summer fruits shine! Cut watermelon into a triangular shape, leaving the green skin/ fleshy white section as the ‘tree stump.’ Top with whatever the kids feel like to decorate the tree! From big blueberries to glistening pomegranate, you could get creative and even pipe on Greek yoghurt.
Watermelon is the perfect addition to any summer dish due to its cooling properties which keep kids hydrated during the hot months. The kids will love the juicy crunch, and you’ll love the terrific value for money!
Grinch Kebabs

Bite-sized and perfect for a grab & go snack, these grinch kebabs are equal parts easy to make and easy to eat! Take your toothpick and start by threading a grape through via the bottom end, then through the top, thread through a banana slice, then a whole strawberry and finish with a mini marshmallow to complete the hat.
At the moment, strawberries are sweet, in season and packed with antioxidants. Similarly, grapes from Emerald, Qld are in and delicious too. With a ramped up harvest this year, Flame Seedless and White Menindee’s appearance and eating quality is prime.
Banana Snowmen

Go bananas for bananas this silly season! Peel a banana and cut it into nine slices, this will make three skewers. Then roll the banana in desiccated coconut, not only does this add texture, but it will also look like snow. Then thread the three slices of banana onto a skewer and top with a half-cut grape for the beanie. To complete, add thinly sliced carrots for arms and sultanas for the face and buttons.
Currently, Bananas are great in price and plentiful in yield. Deemed as a ‘superfood,’ bananas include a balance of essential vitamins and minerals making them a filling, super snack.
Team Fruitlink would like to wish you and your family a safe, enjoyable festive season filled with good food and great memories!
