What’s on your Valentine’s Day plate?

While chocolate, strawberries and wine are the main contenders for Valentine’s Day delicacies, apples and pears can also have their place in the mix!

Why not treat your significant other to a romantic meal made at home this Valentine’s Day – from heart shaped pears, to apple roses and decadent desserts, we’ve put together our top 3 recipes for spoiling your sweetheart on February 14. As they say, the fastest way to someone’s heart is through their stomach…

Pear Heart Tarts: Combine savoury and sweet with a beautiful heart shaped tart. We love using the sweetness of pears to balance out some salty prosciutto and cambozola cheese. What’s more, the elongated shape of pears makes it the perfect fruit to easily mimic a heart in just a few slices. You may not even need a Valentine’s card as this tasty tart will speak for itself!

Apple Roses: For the more skilled baker among us, try your hand at creating some apple roses. New season apples are here and are tasting wonderful, making them the perfect choice for this sweet treat. Just thinly slice up some crisp Gala Apples into moons, and lay over some puff pastry strips. Add any seasoning of your choice (we love re-creating the classic apple pie with sugar, cinnamon and butter), and roll up the pastry to create the perfect rose!

Chocolate Mousse Poached Pear Tart: Combining rich chocolate flavours with sweet fruity pears make this the ultimate dessert to spoil your Valentine’s date. And, it’s just that easy! Make your favourite poached pears and chocolate mousse ahead of time, then layer them on top of a tart shell to serve. Delicious!

We hope this Valentine’s Day is one to remember, filled with equal parts romantic, thoughtful, and most importantly, delicious.
